Steve Orr - Capiro Ltd.

Steve Orr is the founder, owner and director of Capiro which he set up approximately 15 years ago; the company was actually renamed Capiro less than a year ago.

Steve has over 30 years experience in IT as a consultant, practitioner and trainer. He has worked in a variety of business sectors and with many of the world's best known organisations. One position of note was as a director of Chordiant, a California based CEM (Customer Experience Management) software product company. Also of note is that the 1st system that Steve worked on, Linmap, an Automated Cartography application, earned a place as an exhibit in the Science Museum, Kensington, London.

Steve's specialisms include project management, requirements engineering, business analysis, modelling with UML and process modelling. His technical background and managerial experience allows him to communicate easily with all types of stakeholders involved in system development projects and programmes. Steve is an approved Prince 2 lecturer and an Advanced MSP Practitioner.

Steve commenced his training career with Hoskyns who, at that time, dominated the computer training market. During his career, he has trained consultants from many of the world's largest and best known companies such as Arthur Andersen, Accenture, Cap Gemini, Deloitte, EDS, Logica and Price Waterhouse; he has also worked on projects with other world class consultancies such as KPMG.

Requirements engineering sits at the centre of system development, brokering between the business and technical interests. Steve's background, involving as it does, senior management, business analysis, design and programming, puts him in an unusually strong position to occupy the pivotal role of requirements engineer. It is this experience that Steve is able to bring to Capiro whose mission is to secure project success through requirements excellence.

Steve is a member of the IEEE and the BCS, and is an active participant in the BCS Requirements Engineering Specialist Group. He regularly lectures on Requirements Engineering, Business Analysis, Testing, Systems Modelling and Project Management. Steve is also a member of the training group IITT.
